Its a war to reach that ultimate source of Power.

In about the last two odd decades- whenevr India has voted, it has been very predictable. The era of a Hung Parliament it seems is on a decline.

The General elections that happened this time- Have reopened the doors for the Gandhi Family to the throne... let us see if it works out that way. But- in way, the people of India have voted for a government that looks forward rather than looking backwards...

I agree that- Manmohan Singh cannot compete with Obama, when it comes to the age factor... but I do believe that Mr. Singh, has much more experience than Mr. Obama. Lets not forget that this is the man who introduced the era of Globalization and liberalization in the country.

India belives in this man with soft features, humble attitude and the all too famous Blue turban.

But- if on one hand, India believes in experience, it has also shoen faith in the young Blood. Even though the stats say that average age of an MP in the 15th Lok Sabha is 50 +, there are 79 MP's who are the young blood. And, the credit of this goes entirely to Rahul Gandhi ( I am BIG Fan) . His strategies along with tireless campaigns and rallies, made sure that his Party gets a strong foothold in the country.

If this election was Change of Picture for the congress... it has completely shaken the other Parties that were trying to be the King Makers...

1. BJP: The party which was so sure...fell flat on their face. Many believe that it was the negative campaigning as opposed to the positive campaigning of the Congress. I agree. Whereas BJP was targetting petty issues and failures of Congress... and doing all the Mudslinging... Congress, was just advertising about the work that they have accomplished over the pat 5 years. Another thing that I believe that worked against them was The Prodigal son of the Gandhi Family- Varun. His hate speech, did not really work for the Youth.

2. Left: They have totally been left out. Seems that in West Bengal an era has come to an End... and a new chapter is going to begin. Just one lil line here, I read on Facebook... "Prakash Karat not being on TV for the next 5 years is itself worth 500 points on the Sensex" That sums it all up.

3. BSP: Thank Heavens... she is nowhere near the PM's post. It would have been a suicide... had that happened... Everyone was comparing Mayawati with Obama... there is a HUGE difference- He knows how to speak in Public... and is well mannered. Look at her guts- On losing Uttar Pradesh- she accused voters of not supporting her...man...

4. SP: Though they get Uttar Pradesh... but well- Amar Singh is begging to join the Government.

5. Lalu Ji: He has also tasted defeat... and in what a manner... though, he has been invited to talk to Sonia ji... He learned his lesson- Work for the people and they will love you.

Well- Most of all- I am very happy that the Youth made the right choice. I have always advocated the importance of Youth in our society and how we can truely make a difference... and Change has slowly begun.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-57385768889405664332009-05-05T09:53:00.002+05:302009-05-05T09:59:31.936+05:30Flouting the Norms... how the hell can they Make laws??When they themselves can't stick to regulations that have been made for them???
The 'they' in question are the Politicians the great...!!!

And the norm in question are the various kinds as put down by the Election Commission of India. The same stuff was here. My patriotism was being instigated to forward a certain mail to all whom I could. The content was funny.
The mail spoke of how Abhinav Bindra achieved a gold medal and got Rs.3cr from the government, but a security personnel who had laid down his life fighting terrorists got only 5 lacs. It spoke of how millions are given to cricketers who just play a game, and nothing to those who play with their lives for the country's sake. It indicted the politicians and government for not giving proper value to those who deserve. Finally it told me - 'be a patriot, forward this to as many people as you can'.
Isn't this funny? To begin with, it may not be fair to give only 5 lacs to a martyr, but how is it unfair to give away 3 cr to someone who achieved the first ever solo Olympic gold medal in the history of the country? Doesn't this speak of narrow mentality? Which believs that all that matters is what you have done militarily for the country. We must not forget that a truly developed nation doesn't only have a deadly arsenal. It is also a leader in all fields, be it sports, cinema or other forms of art.
Who runs cricket in our country? Certainly not the government. Its the BCCI, a private body. It is the richest cricket body in the world. And who made it so? We, the people of this country, who treat it as a religion. So if someone is so angry at cricketers being paid so much, ask people to not pay for it, simple. Why blame the government?
I found this important, because it reflects a few character traits we seem to have developed. To begin with, we feel all our responsibilities end with blaming the politicians. As if had it not been for them, we would have been the best country in the world by now. We criticize them for being corrupt, but dont think twice about giving a bribe to get some work done. We dont go to vote, and blame our elected representatives. We are always right, its them who are wrong. But who chose them? Also, we associate frivolous things with patriotism. Patriotism is not forwarding a mail, or voting for the Taj Mahal. It is about fighting to change it for the better. It is about doing your own bit honestly and to the best of your capabilities, as the message in Swades says. It is not in believing that your country is the best, but in believing that it can be made better through your efforts. Are we realising??

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-36799191931149116622009-03-03T11:45:00.002+05:302009-03-03T11:55:07.831+05:30The Dance Begins...The Biggest Democratic Elections are almost a Month a away and the Dance to reach the highest seat of authority has begun.
But unlike the reality show ' Dancing with the Stars', we can't eliminate the ones that we don not like every week. Even Rajnath Singh, not usually perceived as a pillar of the liberal establishment, delivered a ringing condemnation of the assaults and most political parties joined the chorus of disapproval. The politicians - and many media commentators - based their criticisms of the assault on two separate liberal principles. The first was: nobody can take the law into his or her own hands. It is legitimate to strongly object to something but quite unacceptable to forego due process and take direct action. The second principle was the traditional liberal one of 'live and let live'. I may disapprove of what you do but unless your actions directly harm me I have no right to stop you. This principle has been used to argue that even if the lunatics on the fringes of the Sangh parivar found the pubs objectionable, they had no business preventing those who liked the so-called 'pub culture' from enjoying it. Both principles are strong and well-established and I can see why they have been quoted. They are usually used by politicians and editorial writers to condemn attacks on cinema halls showing Fire, on shops selling Valentine's Day cards, etc. etc. But here's my problem: I think we need to go beyond the standard liberal denunciations of the Mangalore violence because the usual objections seem to me to be entirely inadequate here. The real issues run much deeper. Go to the politicians who have condemned the Mangalore attack, ask them a few significant questions and see what responses you get. Ask Rajnath Singh, for instance, what he thinks of the so-called 'pub culture'. My guess is that he will say that he disapproves of it entirely because it goes against Indian culture. Ashok Gehlot has already been asked this question and delivered an attack on 'pub culture'. (Later, when it was pointed out to him that his response came off as toeing the Sangh parivar line, he quickly amended it to say that he was only against alcoholism - but by then, the damage had been done.) Go further. Ask this question of L.K. Advani. Of Lalu Prasad Yadav. Of Mayawati. My guess is they'll all say the same thing: that going to pubs is against 'Indian culture'. That's my problem with the liberal position that is being used to condemn the Mangalore attacks. Politicians will say they disapprove of the violence and shed tears over the incident. But they will still support the cause and agenda of the goondas. This was brought out most clearly in the response of the Karnataka Chief Minister who issued the routine condemnation but then followed it up with a ringing denunciation of the 'pub culture'. He was a liberal, he said. He did not mind if people went out to eat 'non-veg' (wow!). But it was against our very cultural traditions to go drinking in pubs at night. My fear is that we will allow the politicians to fool us. Because they appear to making the right condemnatory noises, we do not realise that, in essence, their views are no different from those of the hoodlums, who attacked the pub. It is only the methods that they are quibbling over. At the root of the against-our-cultural-traditions argument is a specious notion of what culture is. What the politicians are saying is that culture is static; that it is the sum total of social practices at any given time. Any deviation from those practices represents a dangerous drift away from all the things that make us Indian. This is so flawed an argument that it is plain silly. What is Indian culture, in this sense, anyway? Is it sati? That was an established practice once upon a time. Is it untouchability? Is it dowry? Is it beef-eating? (We know that the Vedic Aryans ate beef.) Is it forcing widows to wear white? All of us would agree that none of these things represents Indian culture as we know it. Yet, there was a time when all these practices were part of the cultural consensus. And deviations from them were vigorously opposed as being alien to our cultural traditions. The truth is that culture is never static; it changes over time. If the BJP wants us to go back to the roots of ancient Indian culture then where do we stop? At sati? At wearing unstitched clothes? It is entirely legitimate for Yeddyurappa or Gehlot or other politicians to disapprove of bars or of alcohol. But they have no right to define Indian culture or to claim that it should be frozen in time. They are not the custodians of our culture. And my guess is that politicians don't even understand what culture is anyway. There is a second, worrying element to the Mangalore attacks that, despite Renuka Chowdhury's agitated response, seems to have passed without much comment from other politicians. Have you noticed how every time male politicians jump up and down shouting about threats to our culture, the issue nearly always involves the freedom and choices of women? Think about it. When Sharad Yadav is in full flow, it is 'baal-katti' women he objects to. When M.A. Naqvi protests about TV coverage of 26/11, he complains about women who wear lipstick. When R.R. Patil wants to shut down Bombay's beer bars (as he successfully did), it's not the beer he objects to but the women dancers. When the Sangh parivar wants to ban Fire, it is because the film shows two women in a lesbian relationship. Nobody objects to the homosexual sub-text of Dostana - hell, they probably identify with it. Similarly, when Hindu communalists attack the crew of Water, it is because the film shows how badly we treat our widows. Make a film about how badly we treat our adivasis or dalits and nobody will care. Even moral policing, as we call it, is really about keeping women in check. Why do policemen and political hoodlums crack down on courting couples? Only because they think it is 'immoral' or wrong (or 'against Indian culture') for women to be allowed to display affection with men of their choice. What angers me the most about the Mangalore attack is that the agenda is not really anti-alcohol or about any concern for India's cultural traditions. It is about controlling women. The pubs had been going for a while but the hoodlums had never attacked them. When they launched their assault it was directed at the women in the pub. It was the very presence of women, their exercise of their free choice to drink and their decision to sit with men that so angered the political goondas. All this is more worrying than the simple fact of vigilantes taking the law into their own hands. Of course it is wrong to do that - as all the politicians have dutifully pointed out. But that's not the real issue. The crisis within our society is not just about random acts of violent political protest. It is the unspoken agreement between politicians across parties that it is entirely legitimate to deny Indian women the same rights as men; that they cannot have any sexual or romantic choices of their own; and that if they dare enjoy themselves in the way that men do (in a pub, for instance), they will be punished and made to suffer. The BJP holds forth about intolerance and about how women get a bad deal within the Muslim community. But does it have any right to complain about Talibanisation when members of the extended parivar do much the same thing and BJP Chief Ministers suggest that apart from the violence, they agree with these retrograde positions? These are the questions we need to ask - not just of the BJP, but of all of India's politicians. Let's not be fobbed off with platitudes about how all violence is bad. Let's get to the core issues: what right do these jokers have to define Indian culture? And why do modern Indian women make our male politicians so insecure? Is it because they are even more inadequate than we realise??"

I completely agree with what Mr. Sanghvi has to say.

How can the so called keepers of Morals, and Indian culture define 'Indian Culture' when they themselves have no morals or ethics?

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-69595381612082005182009-02-08T15:06:00.002+05:302009-02-08T15:11:11.628+05:30We are still there...Recession has surely stuck really hard...!!!
This blogpage is back to being a blogspot from a .com page.

But, I am going to try and make sure that recession the form posts doesn't hit the page.

I know that it has been a long time since a post has been put up on this page. And for the first time from the time I have started following politics, I saw a shift in trend of voting, and therefore am assuming the Jaago re Campaign and the initiatives taken by the Election Commission paid off. With a record voting, the people of Delhi actually voted for the MLA's and the party that has bought about change and deveopment in our city. Ofcourse, with the elections and all, there was chaoss, but now with Sheila Dixit back in power, Delhi is surely going to go further in development...

With the youth voting and voting for people who have worked hard and not indulged in cheap politics, its time to go on to a bigger stage and tell the world that in India, It truely is people's democracy.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-31225151190792334512008-11-27T19:18:00.002+05:302008-11-27T19:31:42.979+05:30Mumbai under Seige...!!! When will this end....As I write this post on recent Hostage Situation that is raging in Mumbai, the operation of rescuing and holing out of the terrorists is still on.

I am having diffuculty in difesting the fact, that a city that has been bought to its knees, not for the first time, still took its sweet time to get all the forces into action. The funny part is, that when the firing started last night, it was thought that a gang war has broken out in Mumbai.

Intense firing and use of Hand grenades by this group that claims to be 'deccan mujahideen' has completely assaulted and destroyed the heritage bulding - Taj. As the fire still rages... I wonder.

Everytime there is a terror strike we condemn it. But do we do anything about it? I know you and I are common man but isn't it us... that gets affected the most by these strikes... its US who is targetted and not the politicians against whom the gurdges are kept. Its us who getting out of the house every morning hope that today there is no excitement in the form of a terror strike... and that we live to see a peaceful tomorrow.

Life gets back to normal... but the struggle to stay safe and to live still goes on...

C'mon guys, lets get up, fight them... make sure that they think twice or thrice before attacking the innocent people...

And I ask again...

WHICH RELIGION PREACHES WAR?????????? Time to think... if no religion preaches war, why are we fighting in its name... The God (for those like me, who thinks he does exist) who sits up there...

Doesn't know why we are fighting...

Life is so precious... why is everyone wasting it by fighting?? I would hate to trade all my favourite things for something more important like food...

The wall street is on fire... Dalal street is on fire... and even as Sachin Tendulkar passes the 12000 mark in the runs glaore... market doesnt care and keeps dropping down...like rain did two years back when Mumbai got flooded. I never thought that the countries that prided themselves to be on the top would be down and out and How....

The market indicators are not that strong... The RBI in its quaterly review did not make any change in the important rates. So the market as of now...is going down and down. Our dear FM is trying its best to make sure that people do not panic...but panic is like fire in the dry woods... it blazes like hell.

I know that I am writing nothing new... the News is all depressing.... But then I am hoping that soon, markets will rebound and that I am able to write good news...soon enough. Till, then, I would suggest that, the only way to make sure that we do not revert back to barter system or worse a communist society we should stick to what our FM is saying. Lets try and keep faith for some time...!!! And ofcourse Hope for the Best...!!!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-53005270175289623292008-09-19T08:39:00.002+05:302008-09-19T08:46:13.500+05:30In the light of Matters...I got the following e-mail, today morning.... The mail made so much of sense that I had to share it on this blogpage...!!!

An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the United Nations Assembly that made the world community smile.
A representative from India began: 'Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Rishi Kashyap of Kashmir, after whom Kashmir is named.
When he struck a rock and it brought forth water, he thought, 'What a good opportunity to have a bath.' He removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished.
A Pakistani had stolen them.
'The Pakistani representative jumped up furiously and shouted, 'What are you talking about? The *Pakistanis weren't there then.*'
The Indian representative smiled and said, 'And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech.'
*And they say Kashmir belongs to them………………………………………..*

In the name of wanting to own more land... how fair is it, that innocent lives are burned to death, and the living souls in the valley have been charred and marred by voilence...!!! In the game of pur politics, as usual its the people who are the losers...

"When will enlightment dawn...?? When will peace... come...!!!??"

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-54312539460713852872008-09-01T22:57:00.002+05:302008-09-01T23:02:21.942+05:30Long time...!!! Sheesh...!!!No, I have not abandoned blogging...!!! As a matter of fact I even started writing a post on the 15th of August, but apparently, the whole long weekend thingy stalled it. Nevertheless, I am back.

Its ust been busy weeks. The internship ofcourse is the one that is keeping me busy, but other than that, I have lately been writing on The Wall Mag. That is because I have become a member there.

Ans since nothing that interesting has been happening... coz, the usual political honchos are fighting with each other to grab power..and despite the crude losing some fire... the inflation is not ceasing to ebb... It was a pretty depressing range of topics to write on.

Today, I just dropped in to say a Hi...!!! But I promise to come up with a post very soon...!!!

Cheers...!!!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-55859866356870841542008-07-23T13:35:00.002+05:302008-07-23T14:28:48.426+05:30And the Deal will come through...Finally...!!!I have never watched so much T.V. .... especially the continuous coverage of politics for almost 8 straight hours...

But I think that the effort was worth the satisfaction that most of the people got. Ofcourse as promised the trust vote was everything that a hit movie can be... there was action there was drama and finally the satisfaction.

But the drama that was carried out by the BJP MP's made us a laughing stock of the world... but alas, in politics the who thing about national interest died with the leaders who died after the independence.

The stars of the grand finale were Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah. Where Rahul Gandhi's speech talked about the plight of the poor and how the energy security is going to help the poor.. his speech also reminded me of the politicians who really believed that they can make a difference. He in his speech said "A powerful nation thinks about how it will impact the world and a not so powerful country think about how the world will impact it. However, it does not matter which government runs the country, what matters is how we think about our position in the world."

He further talked about how the Indian population is 70% of youth and that infrastructural growth will help the youth. Also he emphasised on the point that the everybody regardless of the political party they belong should build the nation together.

On the other hand Omar Abdullah, talking on behalf of the Muslims said that, Its not the nuclear deal that is against the Muslims its poverty, hunger that are against the Muslims. He went on to further add that he is not a part of the UPA but he is not averse to the deal because he understands that its in the interest of the nation.

Admist, all these impressive speeches, Lalu Prasad Yadav added the fun element in the House. His speech spared no one...from commenting on the rift between the left to the fact that the BJP is not really against the deal but wants it happening when they are in power. Not sparing Mayawati also, he said that all of them including himself want to be the PM, but he is in no hurry unlike the others.

The drama took a drastic turn when one and a half hours before the PM was to address, BJP MP's threw bundles of notes on the floor of the house claiming horse trading. Then demanding resignation of the PM on moral grounds.

Later, when the PM was to address, he was not allowed to do so. So, he submitted his speech in written to the speaker. Never before in the past four years, have we seen our PM making such remarks. He lashed at the opposition like never before and for the opposition leader Mr. Advani he said " In his ripe old age, I don't expect Mr Advani to change his thinking. But for his sake and for the sake of this country, he should atleast change his astrologers, who can be more accurate"

And finally after 8 the UPA government won 275 votes in the parliament.
The first reaction by Nichols Of CPI was that the nuclear deal was not such a big issue. Its hypocritical and the entire nation is laughing at the left for making a fool out of themselves and making the country go through terrible times.

Now that the Trust vote is over and the Nuclear deal is going to come through...lets hope that the country gets what it was promised.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-73902337841412166562008-07-22T17:16:00.002+05:302008-07-22T17:28:36.809+05:30Cash for Votes....In an utterly disgusting turn of events that unfolded about an hour back in the Lok Sabha, Indian politics have touched a new low.
Three MPs bought wads of thousand rupees notes in the parliament alleging a bribe by the opposition party in order to abstain from the trust vote.
The house following the revelation has been adjourned till 6pm.

Today, I am ashamed to be an Indian. Not because of the poverty, not because of illiteracy...not because of the so called cultural differences... I am ashamed of the very people who represent us on the international podium. Today as the whole world watched... what the politicians did not abstain to do was, make a fool out themselves and out of the very country whose power they want to seize. They completely put us the common person at shame for being a part of a country where the very people who rule us are as corrupt as the dirt in the Yamuna. The Yamuna can still be cleansed but these politicians cant be cleansed.

Today, as the muck is out in the open... its not a disgrace to either the ruling party or the opposition party its a disgrace on the face of the LARGEST DEMOCRACY of the world... its a slap on us along with the politicians... that we never make the right choices.
The time has come to throw away the Godly status that we have given to the politicians of our country.

Realise now- That we need to make the right choices to put the right person in the Lok Sabha...to make sure that the leaders that we have are trustworthy to be put in house of people. To make sure that they talk about national issues than about issues of personal egos.

Its time that we start cleaning the system...before it completely puts us to shame in front of the whole International Community.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-7558773154589206952008-07-21T23:33:00.002+05:302008-07-21T23:57:23.773+05:30Who is going to win... Finally? The reports that I have been reading seems to indicate that the general category will soon be converted into the reserved category...(I hope that this never comes true...!!)

Mayawati is eyeing the post of the PM. And the assets that were evaluated by CBI at 96 crores and more is being utilised by her in pursuing her dream to the post of PM. She buying..literally buying the support of the MP's against the government. Its weird how money can change hands and the fate of our country.

As the MP's will be voting tomorrow, I am going to sit and wonder that when our constitution makers drafted our constitution they must not have realised that the spirit of nationalism that they possess... is not going to be a part of the coming breed of politicians.

And therefore even the legal system is quite on the len-den of money to rig the trust vote. The law can interfere after the voting. Its like the police coming in a bollywood movie after the whole fight is over. Therefore- the concept of precaution is better than cure does not exist at all. The chance of this changing is so so slim that I cant even hope for it. Why would the legislature pass a law that is going to harm their earnings...!!!

Its such a sad situation, that nationalism and policies in the national interest have been put behind and personal agendas are being pursued in the veil of the coming trust vote. In India alot is left on God.

And I hope, that God saves the country where he is worshipped the most.

Lets hope that people who really care win...else.. its going to be another elections....where we will end up making bad choices...!!!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-75046423666346754652008-07-19T12:38:00.002+05:302008-07-19T12:47:38.171+05:30Controlling inflation.... our own way...The inflation did come down a little... but its still pinching our pockets.
I recieved the following email as a forward... and I thought that maybe it will be helpful to pass on the message...!!!

A man eats two eggs each morning for breakfast. When he goes to the Kirana store he pays Rs. 12 a dozen. Since a dozen eggs won't last a week he normally buys two dozens at a time. One day while buying eggs he notices that the price has risen to Rs. 16. The next time he buys groceries, eggs are Rs. 22 a dozen. When asked to explain the price of eggs the store owner says, "The price has gone up and I have to raise my price accordingly". This store buys 100 dozen eggs a day. He checked around for a better price and all the distributors have raised their prices.

The distributors have begun to buy from the huge egg farms. The small egg farms have been driven out of business. The huge egg farms sell 100,000 dozen eggs a day to distributors. With no competition, they can set the price as they see fit. The distributors then have to raise their prices to the grocery stores. And on and on and on. As the man kept buying eggs the price kept going up.

He saw the big egg trucks delivering 100 dozen eggs each day. Nothing changed there. He checked out the huge egg farms and found they were selling 100,000 dozen eggs to the distributors daily. Nothing had changed but the price of eggs. Then week before Diwali the price of eggs shot up to Rs. 40 a dozen. Again he asked the grocery owner why and was told, "Cakes and baking for the holiday". The huge egg farmers know there will be a lot of baking going on and more eggs will be used. Hence, the price of eggs goes up. Expect the same thing at Christmas and other times when family cooking, baking, etc. happen. This pattern continues until the price of eggs is Rs. 60 a dozen.

The man says, " There must be something we can do about the price of eggs". He starts talking to all the people in his town and they decide to stop buying eggs. This didn't work because everyone needed eggs. Finally, the man suggested only buying what you need. He ate 2 eggs a day. On the way home from work he would stop at the grocery and buy two eggs. Everyone in town started buying 2 or 3 eggs a day.

The grocery store owner began complaining that he had too many eggs in his cooler. He told the distributor that he didn't need any eggs. Maybe wouldn't need any all week. The distributor had eggs piling up at his warehouse. He told the huge egg farms that he didn't have any room for eggs would not need any for at least two weeks. At the egg farm, the chickens just kept on laying eggs. To relieve the pressure, the huge egg farm told the distributor that they could buy the eggs at a lower price. The distributor said, " I don't have the room for the %$&^*&% eggs even if they were free". The distributor told the grocery store owner that he would lower the price of the eggs if the store would start buying again. The grocery store owner said, "I don't have room for more eggs. The customers are only buying 2 or 3 eggs at a time. Now if you were to drop the price of eggs back down to the original price, the customerswould start buying by the dozen again". The distributors sent that proposal to the huge egg farmers but the egg farmers liked the price they were getting for their eggs but, those chickens just kept on laying. Finally, the egg farmers lowered theprice of their eggs. But only a few paisa. The customers still bought 2 or 3 eggs at a time. They said, "when the price of eggs gets down to where it was before, we will start buying by the dozen." Slowly the price of eggs started dropping.
The distributors had to slash their prices to make room for the eggs coming from the egg farmers. The egg farmers cut their prices because the distributors wouldn't buy at a higher price than they were selling eggs for. Anyway, they had full warehouses and wouldn't need eggs for quite a while. And those chickens kept on laying. Eventually, the egg farmers cut their prices because they were throwing away eggs they couldn't sell. The distributors started buying again because the eggs were priced to where the stores could afford to sell them at the lower price. And the customers starting buying by the dozen again.

Now, transpose this analogy to the gasoline industry. What if everyone only bought Rs 200.00 worth of Petrol each time they pulled to the pump? The dealer's tanks would stay semi full all the time. The dealers wouldn't have room for the gas coming from the huge tanks. The tank farms wouldn't have room for the petrol coming from the refining plants. And the refining plants wouldn't have room for the oil being off loaded from the huge tankers coming from the oil fiends. Just Rs 200.00 each time you buy gas. Don't fill up the tank of your car. You may have to stop for gas twice a week, but the price should come down. Think about it. Also, don't buy anything else at the fuel station; don't give them any more of your hard earned money than what you spend on gas, until the prices come down..." ...just think of this concept for a while...................please pass this concept around....reaching out to the masses ...the world ..... let us put an end to oil rich countries fleecing the poor and developing countries …..

Do you think...that this will work....???

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-58572583787948711862008-07-18T13:07:00.002+05:302008-07-18T13:30:40.329+05:30The Number game.... Countdown to The VoteAs the days turn into a few hours... it seems that the trust vote in the Parliament would be nothing short of a finale that even reality shows and India- Pakistan match can promise. Probably for the first time since the Lok Sabha Channel was launched, will it get TRPs that only one can hope for.

In another 4 days as the entire world, yup, The World will be waiting and watching with the bated breath the grand finale of the Indian Political Scenario, that started a few weeks before. As the D-Day comes closer the equations seems to be changing everyday. The newspapers and the news channels are full of reports and analysis... apart from the usual mudslinging that happens only in Indian politics. ( During the presidential race in USA earlier this year, all the contestants were very dignified towards each other... there were immidiate aplogies after the mudslinging... here its only THE MUDSLINGING).

The number game that started when the left pulled out is still on, as the MP's are playing hard to get..on both the sides. But what is laughable is the fact, that this trust vote thingy is a straight slap on the very kind of Democratic system that we have. I agree, that the clause that if the opposition feels that the majority party has lost the numbers in the house it should go for a trust vote. But isn't that trust vote supposed to be in a secret ballot box... then why the hell are the MP's making statements that they will vote with or against...
Also I cant seem to understand the part whip thingy... I agree that an MP is in the parliament coz of the party... but then there are times when you don not agree to what your party is hinking.. sometimes its best to look above the party politics and think about the national interest... ( but well... its a stupid statement..when do politicians thing that...???) so they should be allowed to vote for what they believe is right for the country and not their party.

The sikh's party in Punjab...would vote against the government because of what wrongs the congress had done to them earlier... helllooooo?? Someone go tell them that the elections are anyways going to happen in less than a year... this time we are talking things above your personal egos...
Same goes for the muslim leaders who are saying that the deal is anti-muslim... alright guys... how about then getting us a pro-muslim deal...and get Afghans and the Pakistan government to agree for the Gas pipline from Iran...well.. and where in the Quran(which is THE source of the Islamic law) is it written that Nuclear power... is anti-muslim... when the Prophet (May his soul rest in Peace) spoke the holy words...there as no science at all... so how did they deduce that the deal is anti-muslim...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My maths has been very poor... and I dont understand the rationale behind the whole politics scenario that has emerged after the death of Nehru. But, I still hope that the educated MP's get their common sense and their intelligence back when they sit in the parliament for voting.

When the international community is making an effort to join hands so that we can save the world..and give people a better world where there are less problem and more solutions... a future where we all can breathe easy.... why do the Indian politicians have to show their ego and nonsensical brains...

Lets hope... that the Idiom- End Defines the means... holds true...!!!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-20970843542508097182008-07-14T22:05:00.003+05:302008-07-15T23:12:18.691+05:30Faith belief and all that....I was reading the newspaper the other day and I came across a very interesting article. The article talked about how the television soap operas change the choices of the voter.

According to that article when the BJP came into power, it was because it exploited the Hindutva tendencies of the general electorate..and why was that... according to the article that I am refering to, it was because during that Ramayan and Mahabharat were regularly shown on TV and since cable TV was not that popular, doordarshan did the trick.
Now that Ramayan has been revived by the NDTV imagine's creative team and Ekta Kapoor's serial killers are losing TRP's apart from the fact that she herself has started the Mahabharata on her channel 9x... what is the strategy going to be this election...!!!

Well, all I am wondering is that, is it just the serials... the faith is always a key factor in winning of politics. Someone would promise the hindu's this... muslims's that... its all about who wooos who and who appeases who. Its nothing new, that since the day partition happened there has always been a weird kind of undercurrent that flows.

As Vir Sanghvi puts it... elections in India are not about anything but are based purely on emotions. He is right when he says, that no one would understand that Manmohan Singh actually sacrificed his own stable government for the nuclear deal...for National Interest.

Playing upon faith has become a new kind of game for our politicians...and why do they do that because we have encouraged them. We are the ones who are not tolerant to the other persons belief... why are we so insecure of our own faith... that we cannot tolerate the other belief.... the beauty of our country is the colourful foundation that has been laid because of the multi cultural society....the choice actually spoils you. But instead of being proud... we end up fighting and nd up abusing each other....on the basis of Faith.
That gives an oppurtunity to our leaders to divide and rule...and after the elections we are the ones suffering. Remember the partition of bengal in 1905...are our present politicians better than the British...

Faith beliefs...religion...are all a matter of personal choice... they give you a bonus..by giving you spritualism...and at the same time... none of these teach us to hate the other person because he does not have the same belief as you.

Lets learn to be tolerant towards each other... and be proud of the fact that we belong to a nation where Gods grace us in all forms that they may exist in. Lets learn to live in harmony... and vote for the ones who dont play with our Faith...!!!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-23334850752442517912008-07-14T12:44:00.003+05:302008-07-14T13:22:48.972+05:30A New Menace...
It's 7:30 in the evening.I receive an sms on my mobile. It's from an unknown number. Eager to find out more,I open it. It reads - " Kal Sai Baba ka janamdin tha. Dont ignore this. Send it to 10 other people and...". The usual stuff follows, bidding me to send it to 10 other people. I am promised instant luck if I do so,and never ending misfortunes if I don't. I get furious. Till the other day, this menace was only confined to the internet,in your mailbox, or as an Orkut message. Seeing it creep into my mobile was just too much for me. I instantly shoot back a reply - ' Listen whoever u r. i dnt knw hw u gt my no.i dnt care.Plz dnt ever again send such stupid and useless msgs 2 me lyk d one u jst sent.Thnx.'What was the need to send a reply, one might ask.And why get so furious about it? But there are reasons.I'm sure the person who sent me the message thought that either I would forward it,or just delete it. So 'bhej dete hain...kya jata hai?', he must have felt. But now,he knows that people might, just might, get back to him with protests. So maybe he'll think twice before doing a similar thing in future. I guess I just put in my own little effort to prevent the spread of this menace.
And why did i guess furious? Well,it dates back to around a year ago, when I received a similar mail in my inbox. The contents were at the same time vulgar and remarkable. The message promised me,as usual, good luck if I forwarded it. But if I didn't,and this was the vulgar part, something bad will happen to my dad's health. The one who had forwarded it to me was equally annoyed with the contents, but he did not have the contents to not froward the mail. And therefore he had duly apologised for annoying me. This was remarkable. I had the courage to not only not forward the mail but also delete it instantly. And I feel vindicated today that my dad doing fine all this while.
At the end of all this,i have a request to make to all of you who receive such mails. If you are one who forwards it,please think again. Can the forwarding a mail bring luck to you? Please realise that kuck might favour the brave, but it certainly has got nothing to do with message forwarding. Also, you might be annoying someone by sending such stuff. And if you are one who simply deletes it, please take some time out and reply back to the sender, lodging a protest. You might just be able to dissuade the sender from repeating the act in future. Lets try and put an end to this menace.

Please......

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-82227699596302257842008-07-12T13:01:00.002+05:302008-07-12T13:27:56.831+05:30Jaane tu...Ya Jaane na...!!!: Movie Review

Hai muscular,

hai popular... papu cant dance saala...!!!

The newest college anthem that is rocking the campuses across the nation...is from a movie that was not expected to do good. Seven years back when America was attacked, Terrorism of which we had heard only in Kashmir became global. There after, no year has gone by when major attacks by the religious fanatics have left us thinking- That how can one human kill another...? July 7th marks another such date. Indian Embassy in Kabul was bombed and we lost four of our citizens... Its a shame that anyways a dumb minority called the politicians is ruling us... even worst is that fact that a minority is bombing us to death...and we the people of the world which are maybe 10 times of what either of them together or alone... can make no difference... So what do we await... killed by bogus political adgendas...or fanantics who see nothing above their own needs and wants.

The Left, finally left. After about an year of traeding on the soft ground and giving various deadlines, The CPI(M) lead by Mr. Karat, finalised the divorce with their four year long allies Congress. The major rift was because of the Nuclear Deal. Last year when this deal was put forward... there were a lot of news paper articles that were talking about the deal.. .. The whole paper and details are classified information, but I am sure that enough was put forward for the public to understand that, the nuclear deal is strictly for civilian purpose. Today, when I was hearing the news, the channel was taking calls of the viewers live on air. They must have taken about ust three calls in the duration...and all three were pro the deal. Not only that, the various responses that I have come across in the letters to the editor in the leading newspapers, also say that the left is being irrational about the deal and that in national interest, the Left parties should just go along the deal.
I hope that I am not wrong in sensing the pulse of the nation, but I feel that when the entire nation is supporting the deal... especially the educated class..because the educated middle class is the one who faces the crunch all the time... The Left parties should have stuck to the UPA.
Congress and the new allies... Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh are so ready to go for the trust vote... and with BJP facing major ideological defferences with the Left... its going to be hard to topple the government.

From the Nuclear Deal.. this has become a major play for power game - The truest colour of the politicians have suddenly been revealed to the people... I hope the people now will make a wise decision when electing the new government in the next Lok Sabha elections.

One thing that Lalu Prasad Yadav said, made sense... He said- Power is a part of basic infrastructure...and if the power woes of the country are solved, most of the basic infrastructure problems will automatically be solved. What I want to ask the politicians who say that the deal is not in the favour of the country is- That the nuclear deal promises alot of power to our country. Do you have a better idea to produce power that would be effective in not only combationg the power woes but also the environmental woes?
The nuclear power plant will generate the power minus the Carbon Di oxide emission, not only will it help clean the eb=nivironment but maybe give a chance to the earth that is heading for doomsday.

India has seen so many rulers and so many governments... and still there is more drama to come. We have a multiparty system that gives us wide variety of politicians and ideoligies to look into. But, all the ideoligies have become politicised. That is bad. I agree that being a hardliner would not help. The communists tried to do just that in Russia...and their history talks about revolution that shook the palace. There is nothing wrong in wanting to have equality in the society but everything gets wrong... when you put your interests so that you can satisfy your ego above everything else.

The day politics becomes nationalised again... it would mean that India might become the golden bird that once it was.

PS: I found this really interesting article online. Its supposedly Laluji's blog on the Indo US deal. Also when you read it, you'll notice a Vote widget there. Vote and get a few statistics that will tell you about what the junta wants.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-48827061970172397102008-07-03T17:59:00.002+05:302008-07-03T18:47:44.371+05:30Feeling the heat- Kashmir, Nuke Deal, and the Markets,While we welcome another Blogger on Board...!!!Firstly, I would like to take the oppurtunity to welcome another friend of Shayon n Mine to our world of blogging. Souvik. It seems that it has become a tradition sorts of introducing co-contributors after their first post. You read about his views on the Kashmir issue. Hopefully we will get more insights into his thoughts on more such sensitive issues.

Now, that we are done with that, in continuation with Souvik's post on Kashmir... here is an update. The Hindu's i.e opposition party BJP along with VHP, called an All India Bandh today. Though Delhi is not feeling much of heat as of now (another reason could be I haven't been outside) but the areas which are sensitive to communal voilence have been hit badly. Mumbai, Agra and ofcourse Jammu had voilent protests that affected the public transport in the cities and brought them to an halt.
My question now is to all the leaders who claim that they people's leaders- Creating communal tension, doing voilent protests...what kind of an example are they portraying to the people...arent they harming the people.... in doing so???
I hope that the court intervenes, else, there could be another Godhra in the making.
Amist all these protests by the various hindu sects, Narendra Modi it seems is belting out a secular card viewing the Lok Sabha polls, that are coming into view.

The Nuke deal too has again been treading shaky grounds. Mulayam Singh's announcement...is going to make the government stable and get the deal thru...or its going to cause more of a problem as they it seems that they are ready to put forward a lot of demands which include sacking of the current Finance Minister, Governor of RBI and our US envoy, Ronen Sen.
Its a wait and watch situation again. The lft has been giving a statement saying that there are more important issues than the Nuke deal.
Also another question that is hovering over current UPA government is- If the deal is more important than stability of the government...!!!!
This is obviously a fundamental question and therefore more meetings would follow... all eyes on the coming few weeks...

Though, what I feel, is that the government should somehow push the deal through, because the direct impact of it all is on our economy. Though, Mulayam Singh and SP are not a great idea of friends... I fear that a few months or rather a few days also with such a corrupt man would shake whatever good the Congress led UPA has done for the past few years.

The direct impact of the nuke deal as predicted was felt by the markets, the first gain by the markets happened yesterday. The market closed 703 points to remain above 13000 points. But, the shakiness continued today as the market again dropped by 500 points at the time of closing. The trend of losses is going to continue... as per experts till infosys come out with the numbers this 15th of July. The major factor that has been sighted by the experts is the rising crude oil prices which were last heard priced at $146 per barrel. The political indecisions are also the main concerns with the market. So as per the expert advise, wait and watch... and do not invest till about 15th of this month.

June was hailed as the coolest month as per weather reports, July, sure had a heated start... I hope the met department is predicting some relief in all the areas...!!!

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15209585.post-24739690765233286252008-07-02T16:51:00.003+05:302008-07-02T17:23:37.330+05:30The Dominoes Effect....Indian Market loses the Trillion Dollar Run...In my last post when I described the crazy Friday and hoped that Monday may bring in some better news, it seems that doom is doom and is not ready to quit Indian Markets.

The Times of India, today carried on its front page the story of how the Indian markets are losing money like we lose loose change in and out. The trillion dollar market that was has now been reduced well... below the trillion mark. The market had been on a steady climb since April 2007. Every sector was doing well beyond even our own belief. But, the law of the nature is that what goes up has to come down, Gravity put weight on the markets as well. Markets for the very first time came below the 13,000 mark. Thanks to this, our forex market is also going crazy and Rupee that was gaining onto the dollar has become weak again. FII's have withdrawn the money and the Stock exchange... is going nuts.

Okay, after the summary whats happening and all... lets try and analyse the vicious circle that has once again enveloped our market.

The prime reason is- CRUDE OIL PRICES. I think that I need not enumerate on that. In less than a year, the prices have doubled to what they were last year. The fire in the oil market has choked our markets.

The import and export difference has increased alot. We are again importing much...exporting less... pressures points are being pressed to the hilt. And the common man is crying the increased rates of the onions.

Weakining rupee... strengthening dollar...that means most of y relatives are going to get paid more and are going to be happy.

But now, what happens... the investors are in a frenzy.... I am one of them. I don't know how my investments are doing coz most of em are in the long term plans. But being the optimist that I am, things may improve. Apart from the business factors, a lot of political factors also play an important role in determining foreign investments. If a trend is to be spotted, the 123 nuke deal, when it was first proposed, the markets had been showing great improvements. Till, the ratification came into the view. The shakier the nuke deal goes, the markets get shakier still... and with the Lefty parties recently getting ready to topple the central government, the markets too are toppling. But the recent piece of news, that Mulayam Singh, getting ready to back the nuke deal, along with Laloo Prasad Yadav, the tremors may slow up.

Though, I don't have a major insight into the nuke deal, I firmly believe that our PM, Mr. Manmohan Singh being a finance major and one of the best finance minister that we have had till date, is intelligent enough to know the pros and cons of the deal.
