The F word: Under Command of the King

The word F**K is actually an acronym. It dates back to the good olé Days, when England was severely underpopulated due to the usual combination of fire / war / plague and the King issued an official order to...well, f**k, to replenish the population. Hence the phrase "Fornicate Under Command of the King" passed into everyday language.

Wondering where I got this piece of trivia from? Well, then just stop wondering and click here. Indiatimes People certainly seems to THE place to get some weird trivia from.

Oh, by the way, don't forget to check out the Cancerian Cuties !! ;-) Just mentioned them 'coz I too am a Cancerian. Ohkay, I'm not trying to prove anything here...just thought I'd post the link here !! (^o^)

Nice blog.. But the story given to you is slightly different than the actual one. The King, in fact, had banned all sexual activities in his kingdom, because it was a wide spread belief, that the plague was actually spreading because of sexual intercourse. And when the people who were free from all diseases started to complain why they weren't allowed.. The king issued them a certificate to hang outside their doors which read "Fornication Under The Consent of The King".. aka F**K
But, it was made popular during the 1st World War, when German soldiers used it as a war cry (the pronounced it as "FOOK"). And eventually their war cry became a part of our daily lives.

Really enjoyed reading your blog though.. came accross it from my fiancee's (|| sbk ||). Keep up the good work ;)

The stories on the origin of the word fuck are, of course, urban legends. Probably the word comes from similar sounding Dutch or German words. It really doesn't hurt to check facts before they are published.
